Dundee district (DD2)
A former jute mill district west of Dundee centre, with tenement flats, terraces and post-war estates. Tenement stairs without lifts are common, and the High Street has flats above most of the shop units.
Lochee’s mill-town past still shows in its streets and housing, where van size, stairs and stopping room can change the job.

Lochee is on the west side of Dundee, with a proper local High Street, residential streets, older buildings and the Stack Retail Park nearby. It is not city-centre work, but it still has the usual west Dundee mix of shop pickups, flat moves, estate roads, stair access and parking that can be tighter than expected. If it is only a smaller delivery on a longer route, part-load delivery options may describe it better than a full van job.
Around Lochee High Street, the first thing to check is where the van can stop. Some collections may have a rear entrance or service access, while others mean carrying items through a shop front, close entrance or shared stair. For retail collection jobs, the enquiry should include opening hours and a contact name, not just the address.
The Stack Retail Park side is different. It may be easier for loading, but a bulky purchase still needs the right van, straps, blankets and enough help to get it into the property at the other end. A mattress, appliance or collecting boxed furniture order can be simple if access is clear, but awkward if the delivery address has stairs or no nearby stopping point.
Lochee also has older residential streets and former mill-area buildings where stair turns, closes and shared doors can slow the job down. If the move is going towards the Kingsway, Charleston, Menzieshill or Dundee centre, the driving part is usually straightforward. The loading and unloading details are what set the time and price.
For routing, the useful points are A923, A90 nearby and routes towards Ninewells and Dundee centre and the regular nearby links towards Dundee City Centre, Invergowrie and Charleston. Mixed residential and trade areas are easier to cover when the enquiry explains the site, access and loading point.
VanHub UK is best used as a starting point for a clear enquiry. It does not guarantee a Lochee driver, and availability depends on who is listed or reachable when the request is made. Send the item list, floor level, parking notes, stair details and whether help is available. That gives a driver a fair chance to quote properly instead of guessing.
